Diabetic retinopathy is the one of the leading causes of blindness. This is why patients who are diagnosed with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes are recommended to have an annual diabetic eye exam. As blood sugar increases or decreases, a patient’s glasses/contact lenses prescription can also shift and change. This is why annual eye exams are key to the healthy management of diabetic patients. Our office uses ultrawide field camera technology, called an Optomap, that can capture and monitor the state of a patient’s retinal status.
