Meet the Optometrist

Dr. Paul Nguyen is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist certified by the Texas Optometry Board in the treatment and management of ocular diseases. His range of professional services include comprehensive eye exams for all ages, eye emergencies, and the management of eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and cataracts.

Dr. Nguyen was born and raised in Houston and eventually moved to Austin to study at the University of Texas at Austin. After getting his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, he attended the University of Houston College of Optometry. During his training, he went to clinical rotations at the Albuquerque VA Hospital and various community clinics around the Houston and Dallas area in order to gain experience with primary care and ocular disease.

His interests outside of the office include exploring the city of Austin with his wife and dog, Griffin (a Shih Poo), traveling around the world, and trying different restaurants. As a native Houstonian, he is a proud and die-hard fan of all Houston professional sports teams. If you bring it up he might not stop talking about it! Other things he likes to do in his free time is manage his fantasy football teams and watch anime.

I just left Dr. Nguyen's office and it was an incredible experience from beginning to end! I had many concerns with my old prescription (from my previous dr) and new issues that have come up, and the patience that I was shown was unmatched! We discussed SEVERAL options for my concerns/needs and he did not stop until we reached exactly what was needed! I was blown away by his knowledge, cleanliness of the office and selection of options to suit my needs!! His assistant/front desk gal was equally amazing! She and I had a great intro conversation and I was WAY more informed when it was time to meet Dr. Nguyen! I could not recommend them enough! Even when we move, I will make the drive to visit Bright Sight Eye Care because it was THAT worth it! 10 outta 10 all the way for me!!!
